South Floridas poor service industry

The service industry in South Florida is at the bottom of the food chain. I have been analyzing customer service in South Florida for quite some time now, and came to the conclusion that, most people in South Florida don't really know what is excellent customer service. Throughout my travels over the years, weather it be to other parts of the country, smaller cities and towns or across the globe, I have come to the conclusion that that the service industry is sub par in our region, I don't generally feel the same warmth and personal attention to detail that I may find in other regions. In the service in industry one should provide excellent service, but how many people really go above and beyond the status quo? about 2 years ago I did an extensive research project for one of my professors in were myself and one of my friends checked into five hotels ranging from 3-5 star, we had developed a point system and interviewed top management and line employees in each property and had asked them a serious of questions and based on their answers and our grading system we came to the conclusion not only on our side but from top management at these establishments that South Florida's Service industry was very poor. Several Managers had experience working in other countries and explained to us the difference between staff in other countries and staff here, they mentioned how many people here in South Florida think of the industry as just a job, intern providing , just a service. I believe that in order to really stand out you have to go above and beyond your competitors and leave an amazing lasting impression in your customers mind and if we can work on increasing this mindset perhaps we can increase South Florida's image of having poor service.
